WHO WE ARE. SNCF International was set up in January 1998 and is a part of the SNCF Group of France. It was created to fulfill SNCF's goal of contributing to the operation and maintenance of rail networks outside of France and to assist in the creation of new railway routes by promoting and exporting the globally acclaimed know-how of the SNCF Group. Besides these markets where it is necessary to make a long-term investment, SNCF International also positions itself in the market for management services and assistance to Owners with railway operation, rehabilitation or maintenance projects and training all over the world.

SNCF International is a public limited company capitalized at USD25.53m, and which in 2002 generated close on USD15m in turnover. It is a subsidiary of SNCF Participations, which controls or has equity interest in more than 600 companies employing nearly 52,000 people worldwide, with turnover of USD4.25 bn.

OUR COMPETENCES.
SNCF International is supported by the experience and know-how of SNCF, operator of 32,000 km (including 1,540 km run at 300 km/h) network serving both passenger and freight transport. SNCF runs 13,000 trains daily and carries 900 million passengers and 120 million tonnes of freight per annum. Although the French Railways are most well know and appreciated as the operator of the TGV (« Train à Grande Vitesse ») high-speed, fixed-consist train sets, (one of which holds the world record for speed on rails with 515 kph, i.e. 320 mph), it also offers its customers a whole range of services, from local, urban and suburban/commuter services to international long-distance carriage.

WHAT WE DO.
SNCF International is devoted to assessing your needs from technical and economic standpoint, then meeting them with effective, profitable and durable customized solutions. In fact, it is from SNCF that we draw the bulk of our material resources and the expertise required to implement them. Hundreds of proven experts have, for years, been accustomed to listening to the needs of a broad range of customers around the world. These specialists, when placed at your disposal, will dedicate themselves the objectives you will have defined, at least cost, dependably and on time. We also have full knowledge of the field and, if required, access to railway experts from various countries, thanks to the overseas sales network of SNCF Group subsidiaries.

OUR REFERENCES.

KOREA
In the context of the Korean HST project, a 412 km French TGV-type high-speed line on the Seoul-Taegu-Pusan, SNCF-I has been involved to supervise on line testing of the high-speed trains (46 TGV-R type train sets, dubbed KTXs, with 18 trailers) on behalf of the KHRC, the government agency building the HSL. SNCF-I also provides consultancy to the Korean Railroad (KNR) for the electrification of the Taegu-Pusan section as a conventional line extension of the Seoul-Taegu high-speed line. This is handled under a renewable annual contract. (from 2000 to 2004)

CONGO
A similar project has been performed in Congo: the setting in concession of the CFCO (Congo ocean railway). SNCF-International was mandated to realize the setting in concession, preparation of technical and financial offers for Congorail.

It concerned the following points :
   - Technical studies
   - Business plan
   - Traffic prevision
   - Investment plan
     (starts in august 2003)

POLAND
In 1999, Poland decided to privatize its railways (PKP - Freight and Passenger). SNCF asked SNCF-I to analyze the project. SNCF-I has put in place a local representative to follow up the project and to realize the preparation of the business plan and different acquisition scenarios.

Because of a political change in Poland, the privatization project has been delayed, but the negotiation is still on going. (starts in 2000)

EGYPT
The Egyptian National Railway needed technical assistance to improve operations on the Cairo-Aswan railway. SNCF-I is in charge of the signalization and rolling stock of the section between Sohag and Luxor. (from 2003 to 2004)
